The story, in the order I work

Given · why

What was there

Opening a current or savings account touched a dozen legacy screens. FusionX rebuilds it as a seven-step wizard with save-as-draft, inline validation and an always-visible customer panel showing rate tiers and details, so staff never lose context. A branch dashboard tracks pending, opened, approved and rejected accounts by branch and by relationship officer, and a notification centre carries approvals and declines.

Planted · what I owned

What I took on

  • Wizard decomposition of the legacy account-opening process
  • Banking rule surfacing: info banners for cross-screen dependencies
  • Branch and officer dashboards for supervisors
  • Module map: customer, account, teller, statements, cards, cheque books, standing orders
  • Led a team of five to six, two or three of them on design, for the length of the engagement

What went out

Designed in 2023. Not shipped: the client chose a rebrand over a redesign.

What I'd do differently

The honest paragraph.

It did not ship. The client wanted a rebrand with minimum rework and almost no change to how the counter worked; we designed as if they wanted the counter to work better. Both were honest positions. They were different briefs. Now I ask on day one which of the two I am being asked for, and I write the answer down.

Ask whether they want it better, or just want it new. Different briefs.
